I'm going to try and compare some music that I own physically with the streamed stuff some time later this week. So it makes me wonder, does the music I used for the tests sound equally bad in 128kbps and 320kbps or do both companies get 128kbps encoded material from the labels but only Spotify reencodes it at 320kbps (which would be kinda stupid)?ĭoes anybody use these services? If so, it'd be nice if you guys could chime in on this. What's interesting is that despite the differences in bitrate, I couldn't easily tell which service sounded better. Deezer, on the other hand, seems to stream a lot of files at only 128kbps even though I always kept HQ enabled. It turns out that with the high quality streaming enabled Spotify always streams 320kbps files. I measured the amount of data downloaded per song for at least 20 different songs on both, Deezer and Spotify. I did some more tests with the desktop players, as that's what I'm mostly interested in. Deezer has multiple daily mixes, as well as Monday Discovery, Sunday Chill, and Flow. So if youre looking for music from a particular country, Deezer may be. In recently years, people pay more attention to audio quality. Spotify has Daily Mix, Discover Weekly, Release Radar, as well as Artists, Genre, Mood, and Decade Mixes. That being said Deezer has a library from over 180 countries, while Spotify only has 58. Verdict: Obviously, Deezer provides the higher quaitly (CD quality) audio files than Spotify. The average payout rate is 70 of their revenue multiplied by the artists streams and the share of rights divided by the total amount of streams on the platform. While Deezer’s home page looks slightly more personalized, in fact, both platforms excel in their playlists and suggestions. The other 70 goes to the artists, proportionally to how many streams they had. If youve used LiveXLive or Spotify, two PCMag Editors Choice-winning services, you know roughly what to expect from Deezer. Not to mention the sound coming out of my phone ain't nothing to write home about, and that's putting it lightly. From that amount, Spotify collects 30 of the revenue for itself. Then again, it's hardware and OS dependent. When looking at the premium plans, both Deezer and Spotify premium offer 320 kbps audio quality, so there isn't much of a. While the premium plan of Deezer maxes out at 320 kbps, same as Spotify, Deezer does have the HiFi plan which offers CD-quality music at 1,411 kbps. Deeper soundstage, more space between instruments, punchier bass and the highs aren't as garbled. When comparing similar plans of both services, Deezer free offers 128 kbps audio while Spotify free audio offers 160 kbps, therefore, if you are searching for the free plans you may want to consider Spotify. To me, even between 160kbps and 128kbps the difference is easily discernible, with the former sounding better.
